Fraud Prevention

Why we publish this page

Cyber criminals sometimes impersonate financial institutions to trick people into sending money or revealing sensitive information. Below you will find practical steps to help you recognize, avoid and report fraud.

Petrus Private Bank does not provide crypto services and does ask for payments to open, reactivate, or “transit” an account.

Know how we really communicate

We will only call from our published phone number, +1 758 450 7725.

What we never do
We do not ask for your logins, passwords or any personal information over the phone.

We do not pressure you to act “within hours”.
We do not send links that redirect to domains other than petrusbank.com.
We do not send attachments that require you to enable macros or install software.

Verify any unexpected request

Check the address bar, a secure Petrus page always begins with “https://” and shows a padlock to our Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificate listing “Petrus Private Bank Limited” as the owner of the site. For macOS, click the Safari menu and select Connection Security Details to view the SSL

Compare account details, for payments, confirm the beneficiary’s name and IBAN/SWIFT code with your dedicated banker.

Pause, fraudsters often rely on urgency.

Look for errors, spelling or grammar mistakes. Many phishing emails contain subtle mistakes and are or may look different from the format you’re used to receive from us.

Protect your devices

Advance Fees. Upfront payment in a wire transfer or in crypto currency to “unlock” a larger transfer.
Payment Redirection. Last minute email changing beneficiary account.
URL Spoofing. Web site URL and domains differ by one letter, for example ‘petrusbannk.com’ or affix words for example, ‘client-petrusbank.com’.
Investment “Too Good to Miss”. Guaranteed high returns, pressure to act fast, little or no documentation.
